Ironically, the last couple of days have been sunny and warm. But it’s been raining trouble … car trouble. First one. Then the other. But fellow believers have amazed me, stepping up to assist us in ways I’ve never experienced before. Pure generosity. I’ve seen it, but I’ve never been on the receiving end.
This morning, as I study Esther, I read in Kay Arthur’s study “Overcoming Fear and Discouragement.”
“When we study the lives of others who lived for the Lord, it gives us courage.When our lives become difficult, we will not be tempted to quit or give up, but to persevere as we observe how God comes to the aid of those who really trust Him.”
Sometimes believers need to experience troubles just to watch how God responds. When we truly believe, we know He will give us what we need. When we truly believe, we know that what we want and what we need are two different things. When we truly believe, we know that God knows better.
It’s amazing to pray, put your trust in Him, and watch Him show up.
God has placed a song in my heart that I can’t stop singing:
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
Great is Thy faithfulness Lord, unto me!
How often have I sung those words in church, yet they hold an entirely new meaning to me today. I pray that, if it’s raining trouble for you today, you’ll put your trust wholeheartedly in the Lord and watch how He responds. The song He places in your heart is the greatest blessing of all.
